Project Overview

Located at One Foresta Residence in Sungai Ara, Penang, this residential project brought together interior design, technical works and extensive custom-made cabinetry to create a more cohesive home.

Lambert Design & Build's scope included interior design, kitchen cabinetry, built-in wardrobes for all bedrooms, custom bedhead panels, dressing table, shoe cabinet, TV cabinet, plaster ceiling works, living-room wall panelling, lighting and integrated COB LED features, electrical wiring and air-conditioning works.

The cabinetry was developed around a consistent material specification, using E0 melamine with ABS edging for the cabinet carcasses and solid plywood finished with Lamitak HPL for the specified doors and panels.

The kitchen was completed with a quartz stone countertop, while selected cabinetry incorporated BLUM soft-closing drawer systems and BLUM soft-closing door hinges.

Rather than treating cabinetry, lighting and renovation works independently, the project was developed as a coordinated interior where storage, materials, lighting and architectural details work together.

Custom Kitchen Cabinet Design

The kitchen forms one of the key functional areas of the One Foresta residence.

Custom-made cabinetry allowed the kitchen to be developed around the available space and required storage rather than being restricted by standard cabinet dimensions.

The kitchen cabinetry incorporates an E0 melamine ABS-edged carcass, with solid plywood finished in Lamitak HPL for the specified doors and panels.

This material combination was carried into the overall cabinetry specification to establish consistency between the kitchen and other built-in furniture throughout the home.

Quartz Stone Kitchen Countertop

A quartz stone countertop was selected for the kitchen.

The countertop provides a defined work surface while complementing the clean lines of the surrounding custom cabinetry.

Together with the Lamitak HPL finishes, the quartz stone contributes another material layer to the kitchen while maintaining a coordinated overall appearance.

BLUM Soft-Closing Hardware

Selected cabinetry incorporates BLUM hardware, including:

• BLUM soft-closing drawer systems
• BLUM soft-closing door hinges

These mechanisms provide smoother and more controlled closing during everyday use.

The experience of custom cabinetry depends not only on its external appearance but also on how its doors and drawers operate. Hardware therefore forms an important functional component of the completed furniture.

Built-In Wardrobes for All Bedrooms

Custom built-in wardrobes were provided for all bedrooms, creating dedicated storage throughout the residence.

Made-to-measure wardrobes allow the available dimensions of each room to be used more purposefully while creating a cleaner relationship between storage furniture and the surrounding interior.

The wardrobes follow the project's cabinetry specification, maintaining material consistency across the different bedrooms.

Custom Bedhead Panels

The bedroom carpentry also includes custom-made bedhead panels.

Instead of relying entirely on freestanding bedroom furniture, customised bedhead features allow the sleeping area to become part of the wider interior composition.

The bedhead can visually define the bed area while coordinating with the wardrobe, dressing table and other surrounding finishes.

This creates a more integrated bedroom environment.

Custom Dressing Table

A custom dressing table was developed as part of the bedroom carpentry.

Made-to-measure furniture allows the dimensions and storage to respond directly to its intended location.

It also allows the dressing area to maintain a stronger visual relationship with the wardrobes and other custom-built bedroom features.

Living Room TV Cabinet

The living room incorporates a custom TV cabinet, creating a purpose-designed entertainment feature within the residence.

Custom cabinetry allows the TV area to combine functionality and storage while responding to the actual proportions of the wall and surrounding living space.

Rather than introducing an unrelated standalone TV unit, the feature becomes part of the wider interior design.

Living Room Wall Panelling

Custom wall panelling was incorporated into the living room to introduce additional depth and architectural detailing.

Wall panelling can transform a plain wall into a more intentional design feature and create a stronger relationship between the architecture and surrounding built-in furniture.

For One Foresta, the wall treatment works together with the TV cabinetry and lighting to give the living area a more complete visual composition.

Integrated COB LED Lighting

One of the important detailing elements within the project is the use of integrated COB LED lighting.

Instead of relying exclusively on conventional ceiling lights, selected lighting was incorporated into suitable interior and carpentry features.

Integrated COB LEDs can provide additional illumination while highlighting cabinetry lines, wall panelling and other architectural details.

This allows lighting to contribute not only to visibility but also to the ambience and visual depth of the interior.

Plaster Ceiling & Lighting Coordination

The project included plaster ceiling works together with lighting features, allowing the upper portion of the interior to be considered as part of the overall design.

Ceiling design and lighting have a close relationship.

The location and treatment of lighting need to respond to the room layout and intended interior features, while the ceiling provides the architectural framework around those lighting elements.

Coordinating the two creates a more intentional result than selecting ceiling details and lighting independently.

Custom Shoe Cabinet

A custom shoe cabinet was incorporated to provide dedicated entrance storage.

Purpose-built shoe storage helps organise frequently used footwear and reduces visible clutter around the arrival area.

By designing the cabinet as part of the overall carpentry package, its proportions and finishes could also be coordinated with the other built-in furniture throughout the residence.

Wiring & Air-Conditioning Works

The project also included electrical wiring and air-conditioning works.

These technical elements needed to be coordinated with the intended interior and cabinetry layout.

Electrical planning is particularly relevant where lighting and integrated COB features are involved, while air-conditioning requirements need to work with the ceiling and room layouts.

Including these works within the wider project allowed the technical services to support the completed interior rather than being considered only after the furniture was designed.

Project Challenge

One of the main challenges in a project with extensive custom cabinetry is maintaining consistency across multiple areas without making every room feel identical.

One Foresta required built-in furniture for the kitchen, bedrooms, entrance and living room, together with plaster ceiling, wall panelling and integrated lighting features.

Each element had its own function, but all needed to belong to the same home.

There was also a coordination requirement between the electrical wiring, plaster ceiling, COB lighting, wall treatments and custom cabinetry.

When these elements intersect, their locations and dimensions need to be considered together.

Our Solution

Lambert Design & Build established a consistent material and detailing strategy throughout the residence.

The built-in cabinetry uses E0 melamine with ABS edging for the carcasses and solid plywood with Lamitak HPL for the specified doors and panels.

A quartz stone countertop completes the kitchen, while BLUM soft-closing drawer systems and hinges support the functionality of selected cabinetry.

One Foresta demonstrates how customised interior elements can connect different areas of a residence.

The kitchen provides purposeful storage and a quartz stone work surface. Built-in wardrobes, bedheads and a dressing table create more integrated bedrooms. The shoe cabinet addresses entrance storage, while the TV cabinetry and wall panelling establish a stronger living-room focal point.
